Y Balaiah depicts Telangana's vibrant culture, tradition & climate on his canvas which become alive through his use of bold & elegant colors like red, blue, green, yellow and more. Men & women dressed up in colorful clothes & ornaments. He has shown the typical style of wearing pagdi (turban), the tilak on the forehead in a very practical depiction. He tries to interpret the Telangana culture in his own terms and shows its uniqueness and distinct identity.
Balaiah was born in 1939, in Ibrahimpur, Andhra Pradesh, has done MA B.Ed. in Drawing Higher. He was honoured as a veteran artist by AIFACS, New Delhi & Lalit Kala Samiti, Siddipet in 2003. He has held several solo and group shows in many cities in India and USA. His works are in collection with Salarjung Museum, Hyderabad; Andhra Pradesh State Museum; Los Angeles Museum, USA; AP Tourism and Culture Dept., Regional Centre, Chennai; Lalit Kala Academy, New Delhi; and many art lovers in India & abroad.
