Prafull Sawant is a young promising artist from Nashik, Maharashtra, he was born in a family of artists where his father and elder brother both are painters. He paints women and landscapes, his works are skilled, language is very strong, and has developed a style of his own. Prafull has a very fresh and realistic approach and paints the females with great passion. He traces the female portraits to show the settleness with leaves and flowers on water to show beauty in women and nature. In many of his works he paints the females turning back with an abstract background and realistic figure with good light and shade. The way he composes his figures, allows the viewers to go into his canvas and be a part of his painting.

Born in 1979, Prafull received GD Art in Drawing and Painting from Chitrakala Mahavidyalaya, Nashik, in 2001; and thereafter he received a Diploma in Art Education from Sir JJ School of Art, Mumbai, in 2002. He received the National Scholarship by the Camlin Art Foundation, Mumbai, along with visit to Galleries and Museums in Paris, Rome & Florence, sponsored by the Camlin Art Foundation in 2006; and the Bendre- Hussain National Scholarship from the Bombay Art Society, Mumbai in 2005. He has won several National and International awards for his works including Water Colour Art Society, Houston, USA, 2011; International Artist, Australia, 2007; AIFACS, New Delhi, 2011; Camlin Art Foundation, Mumbai, 2005; Monsoon Show Award, from the Sir J J School of Art, Mumbai, 2002; amongst others. Sawant has held several solo exhibitions over the years, the most recent including the ones held in Nehru Centre, Mumbai, in 2010 & Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai, in 2009. Recent group shows include Art2day Art Gallery, Pune, 2010; Cymroza Art Gallery, Mumbai, 2010; Tilting Art Gallery, Pune, 2009; Shlok Art Exhibition, Nashik, 2008 & 09; to name a few.

His works are with Sir J J School of Arts, Mumbai; Nehru Centre, Mumbai; and with many art lovers in India and abroad.
