Mohammed Osman is from a small village, where he has spent time observing the people and the life over there very closely, later which has become his biggest source of inspiration for him to paint. His paintings have a detailed and realistic approach; colours are very bright and beautiful. His recent series is the ‘Gangireddu’. “Gangireddu is the sacred bull which is decorated with beautiful coloured clothes and ringing bells around their necks. Its an important part of Pongal festivities in villages and towns where people celebrate together. The bull is decorated by a common man, but the decorations look as if its done by an artist”, says Osman. As an artist he has tried to capture the beautiful colours and the essence of the festival through his canvas. Through these works Osman says he is more focused about the technique and wants to show his best of skills rather than the content. He paints water colours as well as acrylics on canvas.
Osman was born in 1972, in Mahaboob Nagar District of Andhra Pradesh. He is graduated in Painting from the JNTU College of Fine Arts, Hyderabad. He has held two solo shows of his works at Gallery – G, Bangalore, in 2010; and in Renaissance Art Gallery, Bangalore, in 2009.
