Manish Sutar, (B. December 16, 1981), born & raised in Mumbai, he has seen the life in Mumbai very closely. He has nicely depicted his relationship with his immediate environment, and has beautifully captured the happenings of the day to day life of the city by showing them in reflections. With his focus on journey in and out of the city, Manish paints the reflection of a particular moment in the life of the traveler, waiting, thinking, tired, or reading a paper, or for that matter, the life of a bus conductor. He normally uses dark or light tones and no mid tones. The medium he has used has helped him to transfer his ideas on paper.
Manish has obtained a diploma in Drawing & Painting from L S Raheja School of Art, Mumbai in 2003. He has won several awards for his works like Merit Certificate Award from Bombay Art Society in 2004; Scholarship from Poorna Prajna Institute of Fine Arts in 2004; Best Composition Award, Annual Exhibition, L S Raheja School of Art, Mumbai, 2003. He has had two solo shows of his works at the Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai, in 2009 and Studio Napean, Mumbai, in 2008, as well as several group shows.
