Kiran Kumari, hails from Tirupati, a pilgrimage city located in the vicinity of the Tirupati Temple. She traces Tirupati in her paintings, and has chosen subjects like streets, Auto rickshaws, buses, traffic, old buildings etc. She has deliberately maintained the composition in her own way and given it a touch of her individuality. She has composed the colours Red, yellow, Black very beautifully. The bus, the auto, in her paintings is not only a bus or an auto, but it is a form, where she has tactically cut the form to arrange & avoid the normal composition and make it look unconventional and out of the box.
Born in 1962, Kiran has completed her M.A in Mass Communication & Journalism in 1992. She had no formal training in any art school, but has received woodcut training from Prof. Sudhakar Reddy, and has taken up painting full time since 2006, doing shows in India & abroad. She received Chitra Kala Sagar State Award, Andhra Pradesh; and Hyderabad Art Society Award in 2011. Her major solo shows include Kalakriti Art Gallery in 2007, Daira Art Gallery in 2006 and Karnataka Chitra kala Parishat, Bangalore in 2006.
