Chandrahas was born and raised in Deccan part of India, he shows the glimpses of architects & the designs which are very native to Deccan India. We see lots of figures in his works. The figures have a typical South Indian style of wearing costumes like lungi. He also uses many architectural forms in his works like tombs and arches. He has an unique sense of saying a story in his works and that too in a very symbolic way. His Floral patterns, linear figures and color schemes show a very practical & middle class way of living. He uses Deccan miniature style as his signature technique. He has intelligently used contemporary subjects with miniature techniques and has produced scintillating works.
Born in 1966, Chandrahas has obtained his BFA in Painting from College of Visual Art, Gulbarga, and then a post diploma in Printmaking from Vishwa Bharati University, Santiniketan. He was awarded the Junior Fellowship from the Govt. of India during 2000-2002; Research Grant from Lalit Kala Academy, New Delhi during 1993-1994; & State award from Karnataka Lalit Kala Academy in 1994. He has held several solo and group exhibitions in various cities in India and Singapore.
